Roadside Station Shodoshima Olive Park is an olive-themed complex located on a small hill overlooking the Seto Inland Sea. Approximately 2,000 olive trees are planted here, and the park is known as the birthplace of olive cultivation in Japan. Shodoshima Olive Park has been working since 2000 to compost the pruned branches and leaves that are generated every year. The pruned branches are finely crushed, fermented, and aged for a year before being used to grow olives. In 2019, the park won the Grand Prize at the Japan Olive Oil Competition.
